Activate Hawai‘i Aid is proud to partner with Chef Hui, and bring the #FeedThePeopleHI project to Hawai‘i Island.
Feed the People empowers families with meal bags that contain ingredients and recipe cards for 2 ʻohana (family) style meals. As much as possible, local ingredients are sourced to support local food producers, accelerate our food sustainability goals, and power an ag-focused economy.
On Hawaiʻi Island, #FeedThePeopleHI launched in Puna to help with food insecurity throughout the region. Distribution of 500 meal bags began Friday, May 15, and happens weekly with the help of community influencers and grassroots partners. #FeedThePeopleHI meal bag distributions are meant to help “fill in the gap” in between other community feeding opportunities.
Recipes are developed by local chefs and by project co-leads based on “what get.” We love to Cook Our Heritage and utilize local ingredients in abundance. With each bag, we hope to bring people together for wholesome, nourishing, ono-licious meals.
If you live in Puna, are an ʻohana in need, and would appreciate this kōkua, please RSVP for a bag each week and select your pick-up site. Drops happen Fridays; distribution schedule is below.
Link to RSVP forms will be posted on this page on Monday’s at 3pm; forms close once the max number of RSVPs is reached. MAHALO!
